Lazaro Arbos was eliminated from American Idol tonight, April 11th, 2013, after the judges elected not to use their one and only save of the season. Lazaro turned in two poor performances last night. See: https://wusnews.wordpress.com/2013/04/11/american-idol-top-6-first-thoughts/
The judge’s save will expire after next week, meaning that if they do not use it next week, no contestant will be saved this season.
Arbos was the fifth consecutive guy to be eliminated since the top ten’s conception, meaning that the remaining five contestants are all female. This also means that the winner of American Idol will be a female- the first female winner since season six’s Jordin Sparks. This is the first time in American Idol history that all contestants of one gender were eliminated before one contestant of the other gender was eliminated, further highlighting the power of the girls this season.
The night’s top two were Candice Glover and Kree Harrison, and joining Arbos in the bottom two was Amber Holcomb. Angie Miller and Janelle Arthur round out the top 5.
